Updated for 2026 fee schedules

Know exactly what you keep on every sale

Marketplace fees are the fastest way to lose money without noticing. Every calculator here runs the real 2026 fee schedules, shows you each charge on its own line, and lets you change any rate that doesn't match your account.

Why marketplace fees are so easy to get wrong

Most sellers can quote their sale price instantly but not their margin. That gap is where businesses quietly fail. On Amazon, a single sale can carry a referral fee, a fulfilment fee, a fuel and logistics surcharge, a storage charge, a return processing fee and an advertising cost — and the advertising is now a cost of doing business rather than an optional extra.

The fees are also moving. The 2026 schedule added a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on FBA fulfilment in the US and Canada, raised peak-season storage, and tightened the rules around inbound placement. For sellers moving goods into the United States from abroad, the biggest change of the decade landed in 2025: the $800 de minimis exemption was suspended for all origins, which means low-value parcels that used to clear duty-free now attract duty, Section 301 tariffs where applicable, and a Merchandise Processing Fee that starts at $32.71 even on a small order.

None of that is visible from the sale price. It only shows up when you sit down and add it up — which is what these calculators are for.

What a sale actually costs, by platform

The table below shows the headline costs on a $100 sale in a typical category. Every figure is from the 2026 fee schedule; your own category and account status will shift it, and each calculator lets you correct it.

PlatformCommissionProcessing / per-orderApprox. take on $100
Amazon (FBA, 15% category)15%FBA fee per unit~$15 + fulfilment
Etsy (US seller)6.5%3% + $0.25~$9.75
Etsy + Offsite Ads6.5% + 15%3% + $0.25~$24.75
eBay (most categories)13.6%$0.40~$14.00
eBay (books, movies, music)15.3%$0.40~$15.70

Notice how close Etsy's headline 6.5% sits to eBay's 13.6% — and how a single attributed Offsite Ads sale flips Etsy into the most expensive platform on the list. That is the kind of thing a calculator catches and a mental estimate doesn't.

How to use these tools

  1. Enter your real numbers, not round ones. A 40-cent error in your unit cost compounds across every order you will ever ship.
  2. Check the rates against your own dashboard. Every field is editable for a reason. Fees change, and tiered categories mean two sellers of the same product can pay different rates.
  3. Look at the break-even, not the margin. A margin tells you what happened. A break-even tells you the lowest price you can charge before you start paying to sell.
  4. Re-run it when you change sourcing. Your buy price is the one number you actually control, and it moves the result more than any fee does.

What these calculators are not

They are planning tools, not accounting records, and they are not affiliated with Amazon, Etsy, eBay or any customs authority. Marketplace fee schedules vary by marketplace, category, seller tier and date, and customs treatment depends on the specifics of your shipment. Treat the output as a close estimate, confirm the exact figure in your seller dashboard or with a customs broker, and don't make a pricing decision from a single number on a web page.

Common questions

Which platform charges the least in 2026?

On the headline rate, Etsy looks cheapest at 6.5%. In practice eBay's all-in final value fee of 13.6% is often cheaper than Etsy once you add payment processing and a single Offsite Ads sale. Amazon's 15% referral fee is only part of the picture — the fulfilment fee is what usually decides whether a product works on FBA at all.

Are these rates official?

The defaults reflect the published 2026 fee schedules for the US marketplaces. They are a starting point, not a guarantee. Every rate is editable so you can match your own account, and each calculator page lists its sources.

Do I need an account to use the calculators?

No. There is no signup, no email capture and no paywall. The calculators run entirely in your browser, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How often are the fee schedules updated?

Rates are reviewed whenever a marketplace publishes a change, and every page shows the date it was last checked. If you spot a rate that no longer matches your dashboard, that's exactly what the editable fields are for.
