The Walmart referral fee schedule, decoded
Walmart charges one referral fee per sale, calculated on the total sales price — item price plus shipping, handling and gift wrap. There is no subscription and no listing fee, which makes Walmart the cheapest big marketplace to start on and one of the more complicated to price on, because a number of categories use tiers.

Tiered categories reward higher prices — unusually
On Amazon, a 15% referral fee is flat, so doubling your price doubles the fee. On Walmart, jewellery above $250 pays 5% on the excess, electronics accessories above $100 pay 8%, and furniture above $200 pays 10%. In those categories the effective rate falls as the price rises, which means the expensive version of a product can be structurally more profitable than the cheap one. The calculator computes the tier properly rather than applying a single percentage to the whole price.
The shipping trap
Because the referral fee includes the shipping the buyer pays, charging exactly your postage still loses money. Charge $6 for a $6 label and the 15% fee takes $0.90 of it, so you recover $5.10. Either price shipping into the item or add roughly 15–18% to the shipping charge to cover the fee on it.

Is the Walmart referral fee charged on shipping?
Yes. Walmart calculates the referral fee on the total sales price including shipping, handling and gift wrap, not on the item price alone. Charging exactly your postage cost means the fee takes a percentage of it, so pad shipping slightly or build it into the item price.
Does Walmart charge a monthly or listing fee?
No. Walmart Marketplace has no setup fee, no monthly subscription and no per-listing charge — the referral fee is deducted only when an item sells. That makes it the lowest fixed-cost channel among the major marketplaces, though approval and listing quality scoring are the real barriers to entry.
How much does WFS cost?
Walmart Fulfillment Services starts at about $3.45 for items up to 1 lb, $4.95 at 2 lb and $5.45 at 3 lb, plus storage of roughly $0.75 per cubic foot per month from January to September. Walmart also adds $1 to fulfilment for items priced under $10 and $0.50 for apparel. Rates vary by size tier, so confirm your exact fee in Seller Center.
