StockX Fee Calculator
StockX charges a transaction fee by seller level, a 3% payment processing fee, and makes you pay to ship the item to them. On a $200 sneaker that is roughly $30 before your own cost of goods — and the bid/ask spread decides whether the trade works at all.
What StockX takes from a seller
StockX is a bid/ask marketplace: sellers list an asking price, buyers place bids, and a trade happens when they meet. Three charges apply to the seller, and one of them is easy to overlook because it is not a percentage.
| Charge | Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 9% → 7% | Level 1 pays 9%, Level 5 pays 7%; minimum $5 per sale |
| Payment processing | 3% | On the sale price, in addition to the transaction fee |
| Shipping to StockX | $5 | Flat US seller fee on standard sales since March 2026 |
| Payout fee | optional | Standard ACH is free; instant transfer costs extra |
The all-in rate is closer to 15% than 9%
A 9% transaction fee plus 3% processing is already 12%. Add the $5 shipping fee on a $200 sale and the effective take reaches 14.5%. Sellers who price against the headline transaction fee are consistently surprised by how little lands in their account — and on StockX, where the sale price is set by a market rather than by you, there is no way to recover the difference by charging more.
Why cheap items do not work here
Two of the charges do not scale. The transaction fee has a $5 minimum, and shipping is a flat $5. On a $40 item that is $5 + $1.20 processing + $5 shipping — 28% of the sale before your cost of goods. At $200 the same fixed components are 5%, and at $400 they are 2.5%.
That regression is the whole argument for keeping StockX to higher-value, authenticated goods. The March 2026 change made it worse at the bottom (Level 1 went from 8% to 9% and shipping from $4 to $5) and better at the top, where the $5 shipping fee disappeared for Flex sellers and the fee curve now runs down to 7%.
StockX Fee Calculator — FAQ
How much does StockX charge sellers in 2026?
A transaction fee of 9% at Level 1, falling to 8.5%, 8%, 7.5% and 7% at Levels 2 to 5, plus 3% payment processing, plus a $5 flat shipping fee on US standard sales. The minimum seller fee is $5, so very cheap items pay an effective rate well above 9%. Standard ACH payouts are free; instant transfers cost extra.
Does StockX charge buyers a fee too?
Yes. Buyers pay a processing fee and shipping at checkout, which is separate from the seller's costs. That is why the price a buyer pays is higher than the price the seller receives — the spread is StockX's revenue.
Why is my StockX payout lower than the sale price minus 9%?
Because there are three deductions, not one: the transaction fee, the 3% payment processing fee, and the $5 shipping fee. On a $200 sale that is $18 + $6 + $5 = $29 before your cost of goods, or 14.5% of the sale.
Are StockX fees lower at higher seller levels?
Yes, and the gap is now bigger than it used to be. Level 1 pays 9% and Level 5 pays 7% — on a $200 sale that is $4, more than the entire shipping fee. Reaching Level 2 takes 12 sales and $1,500 in a quarter; Level 5 takes 800 sales and $100,000.
What sale price makes StockX worth it?
Roughly $150 and up. Below that the $5 minimum transaction fee and the $5 shipping fee stop being marginal: at $40 they are a quarter of the sale before processing. Above $300 the fixed components flatten out and the transaction fee is the only real cost.
